MPL Kwena Mangope has embarked on a week-long Local government standing committee oversight mission across various sites in the DR KK district, highlighting the urgent need to address the numerous incomplete projects plaguing the region.
This committee oversight visit in the region is in response to the worrying state of service delivery, aggravated by corruption inside local governments, particularly the Matlosana Local Municipality, which has been tainted by the conduct of ANC deployees and politicians.
The ongoing corruption and mismanagement of public funds have severely impacted basic service delivery, contributing to the crisis faced by residents in a province suffering from an unemployment rate that has reached a staggering 54%, significantly above the national average. Many communities are left without essential services, and the dire economic situation calls for immediate and effective intervention.
MPL Mangope stated, “Our oversight mission aims to expose the failures in leadership that have led to these incomplete projects and the ongoing suffering of our people. It is unacceptable that the citizens of DR KK district continue to live without access to basic needs due to the negligence and corruption of those in power.”
During this oversight week, MPL Mangope will meet with a variety of stakeholders, including community members, to review the present state of projects and hear personally about the issues that residents experience. The information gathered will be used to advocate for accountability and the prompt delivery of key services.
“ActionSA is committed to holding leaders accountable and ensuring that the voices of the people are heard. We must work together to restore integrity in our local government and deliver the services that our communities deserve,” added MPL Mangope.
