ActionSA has formally lodged complaints with the Public Protector and Parliament’s Ethics Committee following serious allegations that senior Democratic Alliance (DA) public representatives have received additional “top-up” payments from the party in potential violation of the Constitution. 

By any objective measure, governing the City of Tshwane is not for the faint-hearted. It is a metro that has, for years, lurched from one political crisis to another, with coalitions collapsing, administrations reshuffled, and service delivery grinding under the weight of financial mismanagement and ageing infrastructure. ActionSA welcomes the decisive action taken by Executive Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya to suspend MMC Kholofelo Morodi pending the outcome of a full investigation into the concerning allegations arising from the Madlanga Commission.

ActionSA notes with serious concern the allegations arising from the Madlanga Commission relating to an alleged WhatsApp exchange between a clearly implicated Sergeant Nkosi and the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the City of Tshwane, Mr Gareth Mnisi, as well as claims that individuals believed to be representing ActionSA participated in discussions relating to tenders in the City of Tshwane.

Yesterday, the Sunday Times published a series of claims relating to water tankers in the City of Tshwane and, in the process, managed to spectacularly misrepresent the facts.

At least 2.4 billion litres of raw, untreated sewage have been pumped into Cape Town’s oceans in the past three months since ActionSA made representations to the appeals panel reviewing the decision by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment to issue licences to the City of Cape Town for its ongoing sewage discharges into the ocean. The appeal itself was filed in February 2023.

ActionSA notes the tabling of the Mpumalanga Provincial Budget for the 2026/27 financial year, which allocates R70.3 billion for the coming financial year and R216 billion over the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework.

ActionSA is deeply concerned by the latest GDP figures released today, showing that South Africa’s economy grew by just 0.4% in the fourth quarter of 2025 and 1.1% for the full year. These numbers confirm an economy stagnating while the Government of National Unity (GNU) sits on its hands.
