Alongside ActionSA Limpopo Premier Candidate, Kgoshi Letsiri Phaahla, and as part of ActionSA’s commitment to engage with royal traditional leaders across South Africa, I met with over 40 Royal Traditional Leaders in Vhembe East, Thohoyandou, in Limpopo today to listen to their concerns and issues faced and provide possible solutions.
This follows our visit to the Beitbridge Border Post on yesterday.
Traditional leaders from across the region took part in a vibrant and honest conversation about service delivery failures in their respective communities, the rise of lawlessness and the solutions they seek ActionSA will implement once in government. Many emphasised their support for ActionSA as we embark on the work to fix South Africa.
ActionSA believes royal traditional leaders play an important role in helping to restore the rule of law in our communities, to improve service delivery and fight corruption. It is therefore key to engage and work with this key constituency as we work to fix the country.
At our inaugural policy conference in September, over 600 delegates voted that ActionSA engage with traditional leaders across South Africa to help build trust and honour them for the important role they play. Our visit to Thohoyandou forms part of giving effect to that commitment.
In line with our approved policies, ActionSA believes royal traditional leaders play an important role in our national identity and our heritage. That is why, once in government, we aim to adopt regulations which provide legal recognition of traditional and communal land ownership practices which will be in line with the principles of our constitution.
In the months ahead, ActionSA will continue to engage with royal traditional leaders across South Africa as we engage constituencies to win support in the 2024 national elections. Next year is our last chance to fix South Africa, and therefore requires the support of everyone across the country.
