Police Commissioner Must Deploy Resources to Popular Tourist Destinations
Thoko Mashiane
ActionSA Mpumalanga Provincial Chairperson
ActionSA condemn the attack of Mpumalanga Tourist area by 20 armed gunmen at Graskop. Provincial Police Commissioner must take note of the increased attacks at our popular tourist destinations and increase police visibility.
It is reported that the group of men stormed the filling station and ordered the cashier to reveal the safe. They then moved to a nearby tourist centre few meters away from the filling station and detonated an explosive and left with an undisclosed amount.
The 20 gunmen are still at large. It can never be acceptable for a government who has been charged with the responsibility to protect its citizens, that we are sacrificed to feed the bloodthirsty gangs and violent criminals that continue to prey on our society.
ActionSA calls for the speedy apprehension of the 20 gunmen. This will certainly result in a setback not only for the local economy but South African tourism at large.
We call upon visible policing and the security present at various strategic tourist sites within our province.
ActionSA commits to follow this case closely calls on the various organs of state to be accountable and act decisively.
