ActionSA welcomes that South African Immigration Services yesterday morning arrested undocumented foreign national, Tony Kadzadi, for his illegal stay in South Africa – 12 months after Patricia Khoza first reported this matter to Primrose Police in Germiston and ActionSA helped get him arrested for the illegal occupation of a building.
Immigration Services, through ActionSA City of Ekurhuleni councillor and attorney, Kutloano Phoshoko, have also indicated that they are searching for Sylvester Uchekpu – who, during the festive season, harrassed Khoza’s son Chisom – who is also in the country illegally.
While ActionSA is deeply concerned about the delays in South African law enforcement arresting Kadzadi for his illegal stay in South Africa when the matter was raised over a year ago, we applaud that we are now one step closer to justice with the arrest of Kadzadi with Uchekpu soon to be arrested as well.
As a party which values the rule of law, we have tirelessly worked to witness this day and will continue to monitor the case in the weeks and months ahead to ensure that South African laws are upheld. This is why ActionSA Gauteng Provincial Campaign Manager, Phillip Dolo, will attend Kadzadi’s court appearance on Monday alongside ActionSA activists.
ActionSA remains concerned about the abuse of justice which has taken place in this matter where Kadzadi’s case for the illegal hijacking of a building in Primrose has been postponed by the Germiston Magistrate’s Court more than 11 times, and Primrose Police irregularly arrested Chisom after he opened a case of assault against Uchekpu over the December period.
ActionSA applauds the work of our City of Ekurhuleni councillor and admitted attorney, Kutloano Phoshoko, who worked long hours over the festive season to help get Kadzadi and Uchekpu arrested and helped ensure that Chisom’s rights were protected after frivolous charges were opened against him.
As has been shown with the Primrose matter, ActionSA will simply not allow abuse of justice and ensure that criminals are held accountable. South Africa is a country governed by laws, and we will not allow those laws to be ignored.
