Scared of the Truth: ANC & EFF Supporters Deface ActionSA’s Secure Borders and Insourcing Billboards in Soweto

ActionSA is extremely concerned that supporters of the ANC and EFF in Soweto have defaced ActionSA’s billboards in Soweto which spoke to the reality that ActionSA remains the only political party which can secure the country’s borders and can insource exploited security guards and cleaners as they are scared of the truth.

The billboards which read “Only Action Will Secure Our Borders” and “Only Action Will Insource Exploited Workers” stand in stark contrast with the ANC and EFF whose policies have endangered South Africans, exploited workers and in some cases have actively encouraged immigrants to illegally enter our country. These actions clearly show they are scared of the growth ActionSA is experiencing as our message resonates with voters countrywide.

In a constitutional democracy which encourages freedom of expression, the actions of EFF and ANC supporters should be condemned as it is a clear intimidation tactic within 12 days of the national elections. This is just another way how the political establishment seeks to discourage ActionSA which is already fully depended on donations to pay for the billboard, where parties in parliament get some R1 billion from the state coffers for political campaigning.

ActionSA will not be deterred by these scare tactics and urgently calls on the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) to investigate the ANC and EFF for breaking the law. We simply cannot allow political parties to continue with illicit means of campaigning because they know how ActionSA has been able to win support.

The fact of the matter is that ActionSA President, Herman Mashaba, remains the only mayor in South Africa who has insourced close to 6,000 cleaners and security guards, despite opposition from his very own council. Mashaba is also one of the only political leaders who expressed concern about the country’s porous borders and the inflow of illicit goods, long before it became part of the normal political discourse.

In the days ahead, ActionSA will build on our momentum as more and more South Africans are inspired by our vision of a non-racial and prosperous South Africa. In communities across the country, our activists are at work spreading the good news ActionSA has to offer and are not dissuaded by the intimidation tactics of the political establishment. ActionSA will continue to convince voters to take action at the polls on the 29h of May because only action will fix South Africa.
