Vaal University of Technology Student Registration Refunds

ActionSA Emfuleni Regional Youth Media Officer
ActionSA notes the recent assurances given by the Student Representative Council (SRC) that accommodation and academic registration fees would be given out by no later than the 18th of November, 2024. This commitment is crucial, especially considering the financial pressures that many students face as they pursue their studies.
ActionSA strongly recommends that the SRC and VUT administration fulfil this commitment without delay. ActionSA strongly believes that the university’s management has a duty to prioritise student needs, especially in financial matters. Any postponement of these refunds could impose undue stress and financial hardship on students, many of whom rely on these funds for basic living expenses. This is not just a financial obligation; it is an ethical responsibility towards students.
Considering this, we strongly advise both the SRC and VUT administration to take all necessary measures to ensure that the agreed-upon timeline is adhered to. ActionSA will continue to monitor the situation closely, and should there be any delay or deviation from this commitment, we stand ready to support students in addressing their grievances.
We encourage students to contact us for assistance if they encounter any problems or postponement of the payments. We are here to provide support, representation, and direction to guarantee students’ rights to timely and equitable financial management.
ActionSA reaffirms its commitment to helping students pursue decolonised, high-quality, and easily accessible education.
