Dear Candidate,
It is with regret that I write to inform you that your candidature to be the ActionSA ward candidate was not successful, arising from another candidate obtaining more votes in the candidate elections.
I realise that this must be disappointing news, however we have all committed ourselves to candidate elections in which the expression of the community’s wishes must be respected. Having said this we are still finalising the PR lists and if you have applied as a PR Councillor as well, you remain in contention in this regard.
For what it is worth I offer you the following advice arising from my experience in politics. Those unsuccessful candidates who hold their head up high, unite their support behind the successful candidate and act in the interests of unifying our party, always emerge stronger and with more respect for their character.
The successful candidate in your ward will be assuming the role of the Branch Campaign Manager according to section 2.8.2 of our Constitution. They will need your help and that of the volunteers that you lead. We call upon you to get behind your candidate and BCM.
Currently, it is imperative that we successfully conclude the flighting of our registration posters on main arterial roads and around voting stations.
Our branches must begin planning now for a likely lifting of gathering restrictions in the coming days. This will be to ensure that we are active and visible in every ward in the province with the particular purpose of identifying people who need to register to vote.
In this regard registration leaflets and placards will be made available to support blitzes at traffic intersections and other strategic areas once restrictions are lifted.
We thank you for standing in these elections and for your commitment to our party.
Should you wish to appeal the outcome of the candidate elections, you must send a written appeal to alistair@actionsa.org.za by no later than close of business on Tuesday 13 July 2021.
