ActionSA Celebrates International Nurses Day

On this International Nurses Day, ActionSA pays tribute to the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of South Africa’s nurses. They are the backbone of our healthcare system, often working long hours under pressure and in difficult conditions, all to care for others. Their role is not just about medical care; it’s about preserving the dignity and humanity of our health services.

Yet, despite their critical contribution, nurses continue to face serious challenges, staff shortages, poor working conditions, limited opportunities for growth, and salaries that don’t match the value they bring. This cannot continue. It’s time we do more than praise our nurses, it’s time we act to secure their place in the system and improve their working conditions.

ActionSA believes in creating a healthcare environment where nurses are treated like the professionals they are. That means proper staffing, access to mental health support, continuous training, and fair pay. These aren’t luxuries, they’re the basics required to build a strong and respected nursing workforce.

Nurses are not just part of the healthcare system but are central to it. ActionSA stands with South Africa’s nurses and will continue fighting for a system that values and empowers them.
