ActionSA Councillor Candidates Take Decisive Action To Ensure Residents’ Safety

On Monday 16 August 2021, ActionSA’s Councillor Candidates in the Joburg Inner City, Prince Mohlala and Khomotjo Mashala, demonstrated what decisive action in ensuring the safety of students residents, businesses, and other ratepayers, by forcing the South African Police Service and officials from the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa to conduct an in-loco inspection of the Doornfontein Metrorail Station that has been looted to the point of near-collapse.

It is a matter of public record that the ANC-led governments and departments at the municipal, provincial and national level have allowed billions of worth critical infrastructure, such as our train system, to be looted on a scale previously unimaginable as a result of their internal factional contestation. The Doornfontein Metrorail Station is no different and its continuing destruction has led to it becoming a safe-haven for all manner of criminal activity such as rape, drug-dealing, car-jacking, and robberies.

Through the actions of Candidates Mohlala and Mashala, SAPS and PRASA finally visited the station and have committed to securing the facility by barricading the station, building a boundary wall and increasing the amount of visible police patrolling in the area.

This is a powerful demonstration of action, taken by active citizens, committed to Public Service and I am honoured to have them as part of my caucus team when the residents take their power to vote out the criminal enterprise which is masquerading as a political party known as the ANC.

I will personally be overseeing our intervention of our Councillor Candidates to ensure that SAPS and PRASA indeed deliver on their promises to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of residents and business owners in the area and, after residents give me the honour of leading Africa’s economic hub in the upcoming local government elections, I will prioritise the restoring #OperationBuyaMthetho to make Joburg unsafe for criminals as well as reviving the stalled Inner-City Revitalisation mega project by working with the private sector and civil society to create shared value that incentivises investment, creates job opportunities, and provides inclusive affordable housing for residents.

ActionSA stands ready to provide an alternative to the broken political system that has failed South Africans. We are assembling a team of South Africans committed to public service and not service of political parties, who have the skills, experience, and knowledge to achieve our vision for a country that works for all its residents.
