ActionSA Demands Immediate Lifestyle Audits for ANC Councillors and MMCs Across All Limpopo Local Municipalities
Press Statement by Victor Mothemela
ActionSA Limpopo Provincial Chairperson
ActionsA Limpopo formally demands that every ANC councillor and Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) across all local municipalities in Limpopo undergo immediate and mandatory lifestyle audits. This province-wide call is a necessary response to the persistent systemic corruption and financial mismanagement that continue to hinder service delivery from Polokwane to Mogalakwena and beyond.
To ensure the integrity and independence of this process, ActionSA will appoint private investigators to carry out these audits. Our aim is to expose the stark discrepancies between the official salaries of these public officials and the extravagant lifestyles many of them uphold. For too long, the “rot” within our municipalities has been concealed behind polished reports; it is time for forensic transparency.
We wish to clarify that a “clean audit” on paper does not mean genuine governance or effective service delivery. While some districts boast administrative success, the reality is of declining infrastructure, dry taps, and crumbling roads. A clean audit offers little comfort to a mother without water in Polokwane or a resident navigating broken streets in Mogalakwena.
We demand to know whether the wealth of these MMCs matches their salaries or if they are thriving while our communities endure hardship. Once our independent investigations are finished, ActionS will submit all findings and detailed reports to the appropriate law enforcement agencies, including the SAPS and the Special Investigating Unit (SIU). We will ensure that any official found to be living off the proceeds of corruption or undisclosed wealth is held legally and criminally responsible.
Furthermore, we insist that all MMCs in Limpopo’s local municipalities publicly declare their financial interests. As those responsible for multi-million-rand budgets, they must be the first to show they are not benefiting from the tenders they oversee. ActionA refuses to allow public office to be exploited for personal gain. The era of empty promises has ended. We are committed to cleaning up every municipality in Limpopo and ensuring that taxpayer funds are used for vital services that our communities genuinely deserve.
