ActionSA is delighted by the public uptake of our historic Candidate Selection Elections this past week – over 22 000 votes were cast by residents across Gauteng who elected their preferred ward and mayoral candidates in the metros of Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni.
For the first time in South Africa’s history, residents were given the power to choose who would represent ActionSA on the ballot paper in the upcoming Local Government Elections. While other parties would force corrupt, unethical and incompetent political leaders on communities, ActionSA has empowered communities by ensuring they can elect candidates who will best serve and represent them rather than a political party.
Candidates who will not only bring hope to residents but also bring quality service delivery to our communities.
Over the coming days, the results of the elections will be audited to ensure the integrity of the final result. We look forward to announcing the result of these historic elections to the people of South Africa. The success of our revolutionary electoral system has demonstrated how gatvol communities are of the current broken political system – where corrupt and incompetent politicians are allowed to enrich themselves at every turn while South Africans continue to suffer.
Residents have made it clear that enough is enough and they demand immediate change. This is why, in the lead-up to the coming Local Government Elections, ActionSA has also launched the most ambitious voter registration campaign since 1994. Indeed, no other voter registration period has been this important since. Across the country, residents are desperate for change that will better not only their lives but the lives of their loved ones too, but of this to happen, every South African must take action by registering to vote. We need every one of the 18.3 million South Africans who did not vote, to stand together to elect an ethical and competent government that will serve the people of our country over the party they represent. This must start by voting out the on the 27th October 2021, and continue with their removal from the Union Buildings in 2024.
Between the 17th and 18th of July 2021, South Africans across the country will have the opportunity to register on the IEC’s voters’ roll and take the first step to reclaiming their political power and fixing the country they love.
Fixing South African requires ethical and decisive leadership that implements real measures to investigate corruption and jail those involved; it will require investing every cent of public money into the service delivery priorities of our communities and not the pockets of politicians and their cronies; and it will require a government with a clear plan for making it easier for entrepreneurs to start their own business, stimulate investment in the economy and giving South Africans, particularly the youth, the dignity of work. ActionSA stands ready to deliver all this thing change.
By working together, we can fix cities by electing representatives who will serve residents first. ActionSA stands ready to provide an alternative to the broken political system that has failed South Africans.
