ActionSA officially touched down in Beaufort West on Saturday, as it launched branches across all seven wards.
This milestone caps a period of remarkable growth in the region, where ActionSA went from effectively having no structures to being represented in all wards. This, together with recent by-election wins in the North West, proves that ActionSA is gaining momentum.
Credit for this achievement is given to the leadership structure which approached ActionSA in late 2025, seeking to join the Green Umbrella and establish ActionSA in the Central Karoo.
These members, previously representing parties such as the PA and DA, were disillusioned. They were tired of empty promises to turn Beaufort West into the “Dubai of the Karoo”, and of leaders who promised basic services but failed to deliver.
The people of the Central Karoo know this problem of failed leadership all too well. They have been failed by coalition after coalition, and by self-interested politician after self-interested politician. The effects of this are tangible – roads unfit for driving, taps that run dry, high levels of crime and drug abuse, and persistent joblessness.
The problem partially stems from politicians who have been parachuted into communities they have never lived in, attempting to fix problems they have never experienced.
Residents must understand that if they vote as they have always voted, they will suffer as they have always suffered. Change in their communities will require change at the ballot box. ActionSA does not need to conjure promises of what it will do. We can point to our governance record in municipalities such as Nelson Mandela Bay, Johannesburg and Tshwane, where we provided leadership that turned those metros around. Our record speaks loudly enough, and the surge in support in Beaufort West indicates that it has been heard.
We continue our call for unity under ActionSA’s Green Umbrella. Let us fix Beaufort West and the Central Karoo.
