ActionSA Statement on the Passing of Legendary Trumpeter, Feya Faku
Press Statement by Herman Mashaba
ActionSA President
ActionSA wishes to express its condolences to the bereaved family of legendary trumpeter, Feya Faku, who passed away yesterday while on tour in Switzerland. We also express our condolences to jazz and music lovers who have followed Faku’s impressive trajectory over the years, as well as to all South Africans at the loss of this positive ambassador of our country’s greatest cultural exports.
South Africans like Faku, the same as the many sportsmen and women who unite us in so many ways when tensions seem high, reminding us to focus on what brings us together instead of what keeps us apart, are shining lights we should continue to invest in and to celebrate.
We hope that the legacy Faku leaves behind will serve as lasting reminder of the pact we agreed on, at the dawn of our democracy, to always build together, no matter the odds.
