ActionSA Submits Clean Audit to the IEC

ActionSA is pleased to report a clean audit outcome for the party for the financial year concluding 31 March 2022. The audited financial statements have been submitted ahead of schedule by our auditors to the IEC in accordance with the requirements of Sec 12 of the Political Party Funding Act 6 of 2018 (PPFA).

This clean audit achieved by ActionSA is significant for an organisation of our relative youth because it speaks to the institutions the party has put in place to be a resilient and sustainable political alternative.

Of particular importance, the audit confirms that ActionSA:

  1. Has complied fully with the donation disclosure requirements of the PPFA.
  2. Has kept accurate records of donations made below the disclosure threshold.
  3. Has fully accounted for its expenditure.

It is worth noting that ActionSA receives no state funding and, therefore, accounts exclusively for private donations made to the organisation.

ActionSA has noted with concern, since the advent of the PPFA, that very few parties have made disclosures of donations despite producing substantial local government election campaigns in 2021. We call upon the IEC to interrogate the audit statements of political parties to prevent a situation where those who comply with the law are disadvantaged relative to those who simply ignore its provisions.

The work continues within ActionSA to build strong internal institutions that guarantee the sustainability of the organisation. We are delighted that our donors, big or small, have the assurance that their generous contributions to a new political alternative have been fully accounted for.
