ActionSA Support Surges in Soweto, Emerging as Second-Biggest Party in Ward 130

ActionSA is proud and humbled to have achieved a remarkable resurgence in Soweto, emerging as the second-biggest political party in Ward 130, tripling our support despite fierce competition from established parties whose campaigns offered little more than recycled promises, while ours was built on a clear programme of action for a community long failed by those same parties.

Having won outright the eMseni Voting District and closely trailed the ANC in the overall ward result, yesterday’s by-election proved that ActionSA is strengthening its position as the only political party capable of mounting a real challenge to the ANC and other established parties, winning support that stretches from South Africa’s largest townships to its suburban communities.

Following an unfavourable 2024 result, every indicator now shows that our efforts to rebuild and reclaim support are bearing fruit. ActionSA is steadily becoming the political home for South Africans who are gatvol and hungry for action to reverse the decline of our country.

ActionSA will continue to strengthen our position in Soweto and communities across South Africa, using yesterday’s success as a launchpad to expand our support as we prepare to deliver a local government election campaign rooted in community engagement and in fixing local governance, where ActionSA has consistently demonstrated its capability and commitment.

ActionSA is deeply grateful to our activists and leaders, especially our ward candidate Siyabonga Zwane, whose leadership and strong community roots anchored this campaign, and to the people of Soweto who placed their trust in us during the Ward 130 by-election. This outcome sends a powerful message: the people of Soweto are no longer prepared to be taken for granted, and ActionSA is the alternative they trust to challenge the ANC and other failed parties.

We now turn our focus to Ward 7 in the North West, where the upcoming by-election will once again provide the opportunity to demonstrate ActionSA’s broad appeal and unstoppable momentum.
