ActionSA Welcomes the Arrest and Imminent Deportation of Timothy Omotoso

ActionSA welcomes the arrest of Timothy Omotoso in East London and is especially pleased to learn that he will finally be deported from South Africa as he is no longer welcome in a country whose laws he has trampled and whose people he has treated with contempt.

His designation as a prohibited person for violating the Immigration Act offers a moment of relief. For far too long, South Africans have had to tolerate foreign nationals who exploit our generosity and hospitality, only to repay it with scorn for our laws and disregard for our people.

Importantly, while the courts may not have found him guilty of the heinous charges, including human trafficking, sexual assault, and racketeering involving vulnerable women and underage girls, his continued presence in South Africa was utterly indefensible. This country must never serve as a sanctuary for those who prey on the vulnerable under the guise of religious leadership.

As Omotoso is sent back to Nigeria, ActionSA reiterates its call for the Department of Home Affairs, together with all enforcement agencies, to get serious about rigidly enforcing our immigration laws.
