ActionSA Western Cape Stands Proudly Against All Forms of Discrimination

ActionSA is in full support of South Africa’s LGBTQIA+ community and their right to equality as part of an inclusive society and will work to ensure that they are included and protected within all spheres of society.
This is the message I, alongside Western Cape ActionSA activists, shared when we attended the Cape Town Pride parade on Saturday – which was the biggest Pride event the city has ever seen.
ActionSA supporters joined thousands of people who filled the streets to celebrate diversity and raise awareness of the community’s issues, such as homophobia and hate crimes.
ActionSA would like to reiterate our vision of building an inclusive and prosperous future for all South Africans. This echoes the preamble of our Constitution, which states that “South Africa belongs to all who live in it, united in our diversity”.
Countless dreams and lives were destroyed in Apartheid South Africa because of discrimination based on race, gender and sexuality. This history demands that we have a responsibility to guard against discrimination against any group, including the LGBTQI+ community.
ActionSA would also like to congratulate and thank the organisers of Cape Town Pride which was a spectacular success. It was a privilege for ActionSA to be part of this celebration.
ActionSA, a party which values social justice, will continue on its mission to build an inclusive society, and ensure that everyone’s rights – regardless of their race, gender and sexual orientation – are protected.
