City of Tshwane advances inclusive development with policy on vulnerable groups

The City of Tshwane remains committed to building an inclusive and equitable society that prioritises the needs of vulnerable groups, including women, youth, children, persons with disabilities, older persons, and military veterans.

As part of this commitment, the City is developing a Policy on Vulnerable Groups, which will serve as a guiding framework for mainstreaming their rights and needs across municipal programs and services.

This policy will ensure that the City integrates gender equality, youth empowerment, disability inclusion, and social protection into its decision-making processes, resource allocation, and service delivery. It provides clear directives for enhancing accessibility, participation, and empowerment, in alignment with national and international human rights standards.

The City acknowledges the vital role that various stakeholders will play in ensuring the effective implementation of this policy, including government departments, civil society organizations, and community leaders. Through strategic partnerships and targeted interventions, we aim to foster a more inclusive and responsive local government.

This policy marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to address social inequalities and promote sustainable development for all. The City of Tshwane remains committed to building a socially just and inclusive society where all residents can thrive.

This serves as a call to stakeholders in these sectors to make written submission on policy gaps and proposals for inclusions into the policy document.
