Dear Actioneers,
On 09 October 2024, history was made in the City of Tshwane when one of our Councillors, Dr. Nasiphi Moya, was elected as the Executive Mayor of the City. She became the first person from ActionSA to occupy such a position and her election put an end to the hegemony of the DA misgovernance that had besieged the capital city for eight years.
With the support of like-minded parties, Dr. Moya emerged overwhelmingly victorious against former DA mayor, Cilliers Brink. That signified a milestone for a four-year old party as we assumed the highest office within the country’s Capital City.
Coupled with other strategic postures we will be embarking on in the near future as well as intensive activism, we are more confident that we will be able to deliver on our commitments to South Africans and reclaim our support from the ground.
Thank you to our members and supporters for your continued commitment to fixing South Africa. Please do remember to register and help those who are unable to register on our portal. Further note that the membership booklets have been distributed to Regions to enable the registration of members who prefer to pay their membership fees in cash and we will be engaging in membership drives across all the Regions in the Gauteng Province.
Kind regards,
Funzi Ngobeni MPL
Gauteng Provincial Chairperson

The Regional Executive Committee resolved that service delivery intervention will be its number one priority, with an objective to achieve this through its influence in council and ground forces.
This was demonstrated in the past week when a Constituency chairperson and the Branch Chairperson responded to a hazardous collapsed electric street pole. The leadership in the constituency were quick to act and reported the matter through an ActionSA councillor. After the matter was escalated to the relevant MMC, the pedestrian walk was cleared.
The Regional Chairperson, Phillip Dolo, led a membership drive campaign in Tembisa to ensure that old and new members who were struggling to register online get registered.
It is such acts and interventions by our activists and public representatives that will ensure that residents receive the kind of service delivery they deserve and which will endear ActionSA to the residents’ hearts.
RANDWEST
Regional Chairperson, Lewatle Diale led activists in their visit to Mohlakeng Old Age Home in Ward 19. The event aimed to benefit 76 elderly citizens, with notable attendees including the Gauteng Department of Social Development MEC Faith Mazibuko and RandWest City Local Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr William Matsheke.
Although the event was well-organized, ActionSA expressed concerns that councillors failed to mobilize senior citizens from their wards, and the intended beneficiaries didn’t attend. Additionally, a senior choir from a different region Mogale city was outsourced, excluding local senior citizens from participating. ActionSA encourages the department to prioritize RandWest residents, ensuring their involvement and benefit from such events.
ActionSA RandWest Regional Leaders held a productive meeting with the Randfontein Construction Forum to discuss possible solutions for allocating 30% of local projects to local communities. The primary objectives included securing local benefits, promoting economic growth, and implementing necessary support systems. This initiative aligns with the IDP for the West Rand, focusing on growth and economic activity.
The meeting demonstrated ActionSA’s commitment to community empowerment, economic growth, and collaborative governance. By prioritizing local involvement, ActionSA aims to unlock opportunities for community development and job creation. This partnership paves the way for a more prosperous and inclusive RandWest community, where residents directly benefit from construction projects and ensuring that the local economy thrives.
JOHANNESBURG
Activists, led by Cllr. Themba Mabunda, went to support Gomolemo’s family in the ongoing case against his alleged killers at the Roodepoort magistrates court where the suspect appeared for a bail hearing.
TSHWANE
When a blazing fire erupted at the Pyramid substation and blew up the transformer, 7 areas were affected and arrangements for water tankers needed to be made. MMC Alderman Hannes Coetzee acted swiftly in the middle of the night to ensure that the fire was contained and the restored. Thanks to the relentless work that was done by the team, the substation was restored within nine days and power was switched on.
MMC for community safety, Coetzee also played a pivotal in the apprehension and arrest of 44 illegal immigrants from Malawi and their driver who were on their way to Johannesburg by the Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department. There are many questions that arise; such as which point of entry did they use and how these illegal immigrants managed to pass through the border without the required documentation. We will be following this case closely to ensure that perpetrators and their enablers face the full might of the law.

Councillors were involved in various S79 Oversight Committee Strategic Sessions for the entire week. These sessions will ensure that ActionSA continues to play its role in holding the Executive accountable.
JOHANNESBURG
In an effort to fight against illegal occupation of property, especially within the inner cities, members of the Joburg Caucus accompanied property owners of 74 Jules to lay criminal charges against the alleged property hijackers at the Jeppe police station. As a party rooted in the rule of law, we will continue to chase up on the matter until law and order is restored.
