Fixing Gauteng – One Branch, One Region at a Time
By: Funzi Ngobeni MPL – ActionSA Gauteng Provincial Chairperson
Dear Actioneers,

ActionSA laid a criminal complaint against Emfuleni Local Municipality, Gauteng Department of Infrastructure and contractors involved in the abandoned Boipatong Old Age Home project. The issue will further be escalated to the Public Protector. This follows the response from Premier Panyaza Lesufi to ActionSA’s question on the progress of the project.

Our Member of Parliament, Malebo Kobe, together with MMC Kholofelo Morodi, conducted an oversight on abandoned buildings in Tshwane – Telkom Towers, GPG Building and the Old Naval Museum – which have become a hive of decay and criminality in the City due to Public Works Department’s failure. This speaks directly to our drive to inner-city rejuvenation and reclaiming these buildings for social housing, affordable students’ accommodation and economic spaces to enhance job opportunities.

We continue strengthening our interactions with the grassroots, with almost 100 branches launched across the province thus far.

Our vision to FIX Gauteng, establish an accountable, people-centred and service delivery-driven government in Gauteng where residents live safely and with dignity, remains intact.

Much appreciation to our leaders in Regions and Constituencies and activists, who are the cornerstone on the ground. Congratulations go to all newly elected Branch Chairpersons whom I look forward to seeing them working to drive issues affecting their respective communities.

ActionSA remains resolute in our mission. From ensuring accountability in government to providing quality services to residents, we are building a Province that works for all – brick by brick, ward by ward.
