Infrastructure renewal and maintenance of the sewer system is every municipality’s fundamental function, and the historic failure of this
function is responsible for the malfunctioning of sewage pump stations in the Free State since the ANC government took over. Raw sewage flows
unabated in the streets, and there is no political will to fix this environmental health hazard.
