In early June 2025, I made a personal promise to South Africans that I would post each morning until the 2026 Local Government Elections to highlight the governance record of ActionSA leaders. This was to show that ActionSA not only speaks of change, but delivers it tangibly.

ActionSA demands an urgent investigation into alleged irregularities in a R285 million textbook tender by the Department of Basic Education, awarded to a Cape Town-based company registered just 3 days after the specifications were issued, raising obvious concerns that require scrutiny.

On this Freedom Day, we honour the struggle that secured our democracy while confronting the reality that for many South Africans, freedom has yet to translate into dignity, opportunity, and a functioning state.

Every year, South Africans are afforded a public holiday to celebrate Freedom Day. We do this in remembrance of our first democratic elections that were held on 27 April 1994.

Every political party wants to govern with an outright majority to showcase an unadulterated brand of government. The reality, however, is that coalitions look set to remain part of our political landscape for a long time to come, especially in hotly contested hung councils like Johannesburg.

100 days ago, I entered the North West Provincial Legislature with a clear mandate: to strengthen oversight, confront governance failures, and ensure that the lived realities of the people of the North West are reflected in the work of this House. 

Today, I attended the court appearance of ActionSA Ekurhuleni Mayoral Candidate, Xolani Khumalo, at Palm Ridge Magistrate Court.

ActionSA has written to the City of Johannesburg Speaker requesting an Ethics Committee referral regarding numerous criminal cases involving PA Councillor Juwairiya Kaldine, ranging from kidnapping to assault, as well as the alleged cover-up of the arrest of her bodyguard yesterday for possession of a stolen vehicle and violations of the Private Security Industry Regulation Act.

More than two weeks after ActionSA filed criminal charges against Minister Sisi Tolashe, with the docket already under investigation by the Hawks, the DA now appears ready to waste police resources and time by laying charges on a matter that is already being probed. 

ActionSA notes reports on the ANC’s decision to remove Madibeng Mayor Douglas Maimane. While this is an internal party matter, it does not address the ongoing collapse of governance and service delivery in the Madibeng Local Municipality.
