Today, a historic ActionSA-sponsored motion before the Johannesburg City Council was passed to initiate the process of integrating residents who receive their electricity supply directly from Eskom under City Power. This is particularly important for residents of Soweto, who have been neglected by Eskom for far too long and subjected to illegal credit management practices.

ActionSA’s motions of no confidence in the Mayor, Speaker, Deputy Mayor and Chief Whip of the KwaDukuza Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal will finally serve before Council. These motions would pave the way to the removal of the ANC from this municipality and its replacement by a multi-party coalition.

In light of the recent order handed down by the Honourable Judge Makume in the South Gauteng High Court on 19 August 2022 and the subsequent government gazette banning the transportation and movement of cattle for 21 days, ActionSA finds the ruling to be impractical and detrimental to the livestock, game and fibre industries in South Africa.

ActionSA notes with grave concern the seizure of assets worth millions of Rands by the Sheriff of the Court yesterday, 25 August 2022. This was proven by numerous videos verifying assets being removed from eThekwini Municipal offices and the publication of the High Court Order of South Africa Warrant of Execution in the matter.

ActionSA has today been informed that a Special Council meeting will be convened to consider the forensic report requested by ActionSA some time ago. ActionSA will now write to the Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Randall Williams, and the Speaker to urgently convene this special sitting of Council considering the people of Tshwane have waited almost two decades.

Having reviewed the judgement, and with due respect to the role of our courts and the historical origin of the song, we believe that the protection of any song that calls for violence against any group of South Africans is a price too high to pay for free speech. To that end, we are pleased that this matter has been taken on appeal.

ActionSA Ekurhuleni Caucus yesterday tabled a motion to allow the City to begin the process of reclaiming hijacked, abandoned and dilapidated buildings. The motion was supported by all parties represented in Council, with the exception of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
